Amma Lillian Hammonds, passed away on January 27, 2008.
She was a lifelong resident of Scott County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Haley Penley; sisters, Nora Hammond, Gladys Alley and Cleo Peters.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil Hammonds, of the home; nephews, Marvin Hammond and wife, Dorothy, Sullivan Gardens, TN, Shelby Hammond, Lynn Garden, TN, Richard Wayne Hammond and wife, Linda, Gate City, VA; one niece, Peggy Cloud and husband, Neal, Gate City, VA; one special great niece, Angela Peak and husband, Ricky, Nashville, TN; other great nieces, Brenda Meade and husband, Harold, Deborah Maness and husband, Tony, Jennifer Snook and husband, Kevin; great nephews, Tim Hammond and wife, Pam, Roger Hammond and wife, Marsha; sisters-in-law, Hemple Duncan and Sybil Hammonds; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Lorene Hammonds, Cecil and Blanche Estepp; eight great great nieces and nephews; one great great great nephew.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Bill Tignor officiating. Music will be provided by Lee Smith Singers.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Holston View Cemetery. The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers Neal Cloud, Richard Hammond, Tim Hammond, Paul Fields, Keith Davidson and Marty Hammonds.
The family would like to express our appreciation to Dr. James Wolfe and his staff, and to Brian Center for their loving care of our loved one during her illness.
