Mrs. Edna Freeman Hall, 93, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Hall was born in Scott County, VA on May 25, 1921 a daughter of the late William Hopkins and Mary Otelia Baldwin Freeman.
Edna was the last member of her generation. She loved flowers, gardens, and making quilts.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Charles Dewey Hall; and son, Scott Alan Hall; daughter and husband, Don and Frieda LaRochelle; son-in-law, Ted Darnell; sisters, Mamie Freeman, Hettie Laney, and Mable Morris; half sisters, Una Gillenwater, Florence Grear, Mary, Lakie, Dora, and Ada Freeman; brothers, Ellis and Albert Freeman; half brothers, , Howard Freeman, Luther, Essie, and Emmitt Perry, and Henry and Fred Freeman preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Hall Darnell, Ft. Blackmore, VA; sons, Charles Gary Hall and wife, Jody, Church Hill, TN, Virgil Gerald Hall and wife, Helen, Morristown, TN, and Richard Marcel Hall and wife, Linda, Ft. Blackmore, VA; daughter-in-law, Debbie Kinkead; grandsons, Matthew Hall and wife, Brooke, and Michael Hall and wife, Janet; granddaughters, Jackie LaRochelle, Loraine Cressey, Sheila Hall King and husband, Jimmy, Myrna Hall Foley and husband, Kevin, Amber Hall Davidson and husband, Heath, Tammy Hall Strange and husband, Michael, and Pamela Hall; great grandchildren, Jonathon Hall, Nicholas Hall and wife, Casandra, and Zachery Hall, McKenzie Strange and wife, Miranda, Mason Strange, and Christian Strange, Matthew and Emily Cressey, Evan Davidson, Eli Davidson, Easton Davidson, and Emma Davidson, Brooklyn Hall, Connor Foley and Jordyn Foley; and step great grandchild, Valerie Everroad; step great great grandchildren, Marlie Everroad and Gabriel King; Edna’s best friend and roommate, Thelma Poole; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Matthew Hall, Nicholas Hall, Zachary Hall, Michael Hall, McKenzie Strange, Christian Strange, Mason Strange, and Michael Strange will serve as pallbearers. Danny Casteel, John Shannon Gillenwater, Milburn Hall, Robbie Campbell, and Wayne Bellamy will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
