Wilma Joyce Hale, 63, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Indian Path Medical Center surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with several health issues.
Joyce was born November 7, 1949 in Scott County, VA to the late Dale E. and Virginia Lee Kilgore Dockery.
She had a heart of gold and was always thinking of others.
In addition to her parents, her sister, Janice F. Robinson preceded her in death.
Joyce had no children of her own, but treated so many as if they were her own.
She is survived by her husband, James K. Hale, Nickelsville, VA; sisters, Florence Stallard and husband, Jack, Nickelsville, VA, Clarice Meade and husband, Kenneth, Nickelsville, VA, Delores Ford and fiance, Scottie Hall, Nickelsville, VA, Linda Gillenwater and husband, Martin, Gate City, VA; brothers, Vernon Compton and wife, Shirley, Nickelsville, VA and John L. Compton and wife, Louise, Nickelsville, VA; nieces and nephews, Tim and Tom Stallard, Mike Compton, Gary and Barry Compton, Stacy and Marty Ford, Greg Robinson, Adam Meade, Robin Mardones, Autumn McConnell, and Luke Gillenwater; along with several great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, July 4, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Martin Gillenwater. Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Larry Beavers and Rev. Marvin Dockery officiating. Thomas Hillman will give a eulogy. James McConnell and Jamie Salyer, and Greg and Becky White will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 5, 2013 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Dale Nuckels, Terry Dockery, David McConnell, and Erchil Dockery will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Audrey Campbell, the nurses of Indian Path ICU and the 5th Floor, and the staff of Ridgecrest Manor for their loving care of Joyce.
