Robert Napoloen Greear 76, of Nickelsville, VA, was called to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. with his family by his side.

R.N. was born in Scott County, Virginia on March 17, 1935, the son of Roy C. and Marie Quillen Greear.

R.N. was retired from Holston Defense and was a United States Army Veteran. He was a proud Christian and attended Bishop's Memorial Church. He was a very extraordinary man and was loved by all including his neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roy C. and Marie Quillen Greear.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shelby Greear of Nickelsville, VA, son, Robert Clyde (RC) Greear and wife Valerie of Nickelsville, VA, granddaughter, Dessa Greear of Castlewood, VA., step grandchildren, Tessy Edwards of Kingsport, TN., Dustin Nave of Nickelsville, VA. and adored dog Foxy.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday July 9, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and any other time at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Daryl Hurd, Rev. Henry Meade, Elder Jimmy Combs and Rev. Eckel Herron officiating. Music will be provided by Greg and Becky White.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday July 10, 2011 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA at 11:00 a.m. and will meet at Gate City Funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Eddie Bruce, Dwayne Wells, Carl Price Jr., "Poss" Smith, Mody Keith, John Flanary, Mack Kilgore and Dustin Nave will serve as pallbearers. Billy Joe Dean, Everette Kerns, Gregory DeMotts, James Brickey, George Wells and Bobby Joe Horne will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gregory DeMotts and his clinical staff for their treatment and support. Also, to thank the nursing staff of the Cardiac Unit at Holston Valley for their treatment, compassion, and support when it was needed most.
