Anne Darnell Gordon, 92, passes away peacefully on November 10, 2013 at Wexford House in Kingsport.
Anne was born in Scott County, VA on April 20, 1921 to the late William Newton and Pearl Martin Darnell.
She was a faithful member of the Kingsport Seventh-Day Adventist Church and attended regularly when her health permitted. She loved her Lord, her church, and her family. She was also a pet lover and had her fur babies until recently. Her favorite pastime was reading from the Gospel and other Christian materials and listening to Christian music.
She retired from the First National Bank of Kingsport with 19 years of service and was the owner and operator of Gordon's Market in Chattanooga for 16 years.
Anne was the last surviving child and was preceded in death by her husband, Brown Joe Gordon (1999); her son, John F. Taylor (2003); sisters, Ferna, Vesta, Sylvia, Faye, Barbara, and Emma Sue; brothers, Sidney, Billy, and John; and a special nephew, Charlie Starnes (2010).
She is survived by her two special nieces Lynn Starnes Church, Gate City, VA and Sherry Darnell Godsey, Gate City, VA; step sons, Bobby Gordon, Chattanooga, TN, Billy Ray Gordon, Graysville, TN, and Roger Gordon, Graysville, TN; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA by Dr. Rebekah Cote officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
