Gladys Neeley Roberts – Duffield, VA

Gladys Ruth (Neeley) Roberts 92, Duffield, VA passed away, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Indian Path Medical Center.

Gladys was born in Scott County, VA on September 10, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Bennie Martin and Nannie Roxie (Hamilton) Neeley.

She attended Purchase Ridge Community Church. 

In addition to her parents, her husband, Kelly Roberts; an infant brother and sister; brothers, Ray Neeley, Willie Neeley, Pat Neeley; sister, Edna Lane; brother-in-laws, Clifton Holtzclaw and Emory Rhoton and sisters-in-law, Crodia, Wanda Neeley, and Charlotte Neeley preceded her in death.

Gladys is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Mike) Gilliam, and Donna (Dale) Townsend, both of Duffield, VA; her son, Larry (Becky) Roberts, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Amanda (Patrick) Johnson, David Gilliam, Dustin Townsend (Kayla), Danny Townsend (Rachel), Brittany (Brandon) Lemmons, and Jennifer (Benny, Jr.) Stanley; great grandchildren, Abany Johnson, Elly Anna Johnson, Natalee Johnson, Haley Lemmons, Emily Lemmons, Brandon Carrico, Alexa Townsend, Kayla Johnson, Madison Sexton, Dalton Townsend, Kameron Townsend, and Hazeleigh Townsend; sisters, Annabelle (Roy) Roberts, Duffield, VA, Ruby Rhoton, Kingsport, TN, and Linda Holtzclaw, Kingsport, TN; brother, Fred Neeley, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Gate City Funeral Home, and other times at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jackie Frazier and Rev. Chris Lane officiating. Eddie Roberts and Matthew Vanzant will provide the music. 

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Goode Cemetery, Duffield, VA. 

Grandsons and family, David Gilliam, Dustin Townsend, Danny Townend, Patrick Johnson, Keith Roberts, Shane Holtzclaw, Brandon Lemmons, Dalton Townsend, and Kameron Townsend will serve as pallbearers. 

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00p.m., Sunday, to go in procession to the graveside service.
