William Thomas Gilreath, Jr. – Kingsport, TN
William Thomas Gilreath, Jr., 80, Kingsport, TN passed away, Monday, August 25, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Gilreath was born in Scott County, VA on August 16, 1934 to the late William Thomas, Sr., and Nannie Ethel Carter Gilreath.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Holston Defense.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Janice Loleta Gilreath (8/8/2013), brother, A.J. Gilreath and sister-in-law, Catherine Louise Brooks Gilreath preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sisters, Shelba Gilreath Maddox, Church Hill, TN, and twin sisters, Jeanette and Jeanelle Gilreath, Kingsport, TN; brother-in-law, W. H. Neeley and wife, Ruthlyne, Blountville , TN; sister-in-law, Betty Neeley, Church Hill, TN; nephews, Donnie Gilreath and wife, Donna, Kingsport, TN, Andy Gilreath and wife, Sharon, Church Hill, TN, and Jeff Neeley, Church Hill, TN; nieces, Teresa Laws and husband, Tony, Church Hill, TN, Lisa Kite and husband, J.D., Nashville, TN, Candice Neeley, Blountville, TN, and Vicki Deider, Church Hill, TN; great nephews, Anthony and Hunter Laws, Church Hill, TN and Drew Gilreath, Church Hill, TN; and great nieces, Keaton and Kellye Gilreath, Kingsport, TN.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and Rev. Kenny Hammonds officiating. Music will be provided by Miranda Nottingham and Wayne Bledsoe will provide piano music.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265 of Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Honor Guard. Donnie Gilreath, W.H. Neeley, Jeff Neeley, Andy Gilreath, Anthony Laws, and Hunter Laws will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
