Harold Jimmy Gilliam, 71, Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Harold was born in Lee County, VA on December 18, 1942 to Mary Golden Harber Gilliam and the late Harlie Jessie Gilliam.
In addition to his father, his infant brother, Willie Ray Gilliam preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Hobbs Gilliam, Gate City, VA; mother, Mary Gilliam, Duffield, VA; sister, Wilma Barnett and husband, Rodney, Pattonsville, VA; brother, Richard Gilliam, Duffield, VA; sisters-in-law, Bobbie McPherson and husband, Ricky, Kingsport, TN and Glenda Hopkins and husband, Greg, Kingsport, TN; special friends, Cathy Mullins and Brenda Alley; nieces and nephews, Courtney Pierce and husband, Howard, Jordan McPherson, Angel Roberts and husband, Jeff, Preston McPherson and wife, Barbara, Brianna McPherson, Houston Hobbs, and Logan Hopkins; great nieces and great nephews, Jasmine Judkins, Jackson Judkins, Dezmond Hobbs, Jinger Judkins, Ryan Roberts, and Austin Elliott.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Larry Spivey and Rev. Willie Neeley officiating. Heavenly Reflections will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Scotty Anderson, Ricky McPherson, Preston McPherson, Wayne Powers, Roger Carrico, David Alley, and Zane Hobbs will serve as pallbearers. Houston Hobbs, Jordan McPherson, Dwain Williams, and Shannon Hobbs will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
