Dorothy Ann Seaver Gilliam, 88, Gate City, VA went to be with her Lord, Friday, January 13, 2012.
Mrs. Gilliam, the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Herron Seaver, was born in Scott County, VA on July 17, 1923.
She was a member of Lawson Memorial Chapel and active in the Manville Community Center. Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and talking with her many friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Pat Gilliam; granddaughter, Amanda Hamilton; sister, Betty Jane Pendleton; and brothers, Ronnie, Bobby, Harold, and Jerry Seaver preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jim and Margie Blalock, Gate City, VA., Jeff and Carolyn Hamilton, Gate City, VA; sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Sue Gilliam, Kingsport, TN, and Ken and Myrtle Gilliam, Kingston, TN; 6 grandchildren, Ronda Slemons, Patrick Blalock, Melissa Lane, Jennifer Raymer, Bethany Tate, and Cara Noe; 11 great grandchildren; Jessica Brooks, Ivie Slemons, David Slemons, Josh Blalock, Savannah Blalock, Dawson Lane, Kailey Lane, Colby Raymer, Corey Raymer, Mackenzie Raymer, and Brodie Raymer; and great great grandchild, Sydney Brooks. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Cloud officiating. The eulogy will be given by Carolyn Hamilton and Ken Gilliam. David Lane will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Preston Place II for the care and love given to Dorothy.
