Clarence Gilliam, 73, Kingsport, TN passed away, Thursday, September 17, 2009 at his residence after a short illness.
Mr. Gilliam was born in Tazewell County, VA on June 16, 1936 to the late Charlie and Rosalee Christian Gilliam. He was retired from the Kingsport Water Department with thirty-seven years and seven months of service. He also worked for Global Construction for four years and Moody Sprinkler for twelve years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and eight brothers.
Surviving are his wife, Minnie Saul Gilliam, Kingsport, TN; daughter, Crystal Gilliam, Kingsport, TN; sons, Randy Hass and wife, Janis, Kingsport, TN, and David Gilliam and wife, Debbie, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Michael Hass and wife, April, Rachel Hass and fiance', MaKeegan Wells; Jon Gilliam, Tonya Gilliam and Audra Bledsoe; a very special grandson, Brentyn "Little Bubby" Parker; a very special great grandson, Gaige Haven Hass; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Renee Gilliam; sisters, Helen Jessee and husband, Joe, Mabe, VA, Freda Hommel, Kingsport, TN, Mable Spiva, Largo, FL; a half sister, Gladys Fillers, Johnson City, TN; half brother, Curtis Gilliam, Duffield, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the Gate City Funeral Home and any time at the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2009 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Travis Boling, Pastor Wayne Baker and Pastor Pete Smith officiating. The Bible Way Choir will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at the Saul Family Cemetery, Dungannon, VA.
J.C. Saul, Donnie Saul, J.J. Saul, Junior Saul, Everett Saul, Ted Saul, Michael Hass, Timmy Estep, Greg Overbay and Jon Gilliam will serve as pallbearers.
City of Kingsport Employees, Wayne Overbay, Gary Wade, Everett Dickson, Donnie Rogan, Harvey Paige, R.C. Barrett, Jeremy Smith, Dan Payne and Carl Devault will serve as honorary pallbearers. Along with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Honor Guard.
The family requests that donations in the name of Clarence Gilliam be made to the Bible Way Church.
