Carl David Gilliam, 55, of Kingsport, TN passed away of cancer on August 27, 2011 at his home.
Carl was born in Kingsport, TN on October 25, 1955 to the late Clarence Gilliam of Kingsport, TN and Ruby Hass of Edison, TN. He was a member of Grace Covenant Church. He worked 28 years for JP Stevens and seven years at Brock, Inc.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Debbie Gilliam; son, Jon Gilliam and wife Stephanie; daughter, Tonya Gilliam all of Kingsport, TN; mother, Ruby Hass and husband, Coy, of Edison, TN; step-mother, Minnie Gilliam; brother, Randy Hass and wife, Janis; sister, Crystal Gilliam; granddaughter, Elizabeth Gilliam all of Kingsport, TN; brothers-in-law, Delmer Duncan and wife, Denise; Larry Duncan and wife, Theresa; Bobby Duncan and wife, Melissa of VA; Scott Duncan and girlfriend, Angel of TN; sister-in-law, Peggy Sloan and husband, Charles; parents-in-law, Gene and Reba Duncan of VA. He is also survived by a special aunt, Virgie Rhoton, as well as several other aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Gate City Funeral Home. Burial will follow immediately at Oak Hill cemetery. Dr. Ed Clevinger will officiate at the graveside service. Randy Hass, Jon Gilliam, Delmer Duncan, Larry Duncan, Scott Duncan, Donnie Littleton, JJ Saul, JC Saul, Everett Saul and Donnie Saul will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Duncan, Billy Stanley, Paul Stanley and H.J. McConnell.
The family requests no flowers, please.
