Mrs. Willie R. "Bill" Gillenwater, 78, Weber City, VA passed away, Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Brian Center, Weber City, VA.
Mrs. Gillenwater was born in Scott County, VA on August 12, 1932, the daughter of the late Walter Edwin Fields and Lona Cleo Strong Fields.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William "Bobby" Gillenwater; son, Billy Jack Sandidge; sisters, Fay Fields, Mary Katherine Ball, and Shirley Ann Monroe; and brother, Arthur Eugene Fields.
Surviving is her daughters, Elizabeth Ann "Libby Overbay and husband, Ira, Fall Branch, TN and Linda Fay Overbay and husband, Garland, Fall Branch, TN; sons, Lee Roy Sandidge and wife, Devon, Kingsport, TN and Tommy Eugene Wallen, Weber City, VA; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Marie Lawson, Gate City, VA and Maxie Lorraine Hammonds, Gate City, VA; brothers, Claude Allen Fields, Gate City, VA and Paul Edwin Fields, Gate City, VA, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2011 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Roy Lane officiating. David and Debbie Easterling will provide the music.
Burial will follow at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
