Otis Gillenwater – Kingsport, TN
Otis Gillenwater, 90, Kingsport, TN passed away, Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Nova Health and Rehab, Weber City, VA.
Mr. Gillenwater was born in Scott County, VA on January 2, 1924 to the late Emmit Lee and Lucy Davidson Gillenwater, Sr.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and was retired from AFG.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Ruth Peters Gillenwater; and sisters, Mallie Vermillion, Zola Peters, and Ina Elliott preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Gill and husband, Benny, Kingsport, TN; son, Larry Gillenwater and wife, Brenda, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Benjamin Gill and Shaun Gill and wife, Cassandra, Kingsport, TN; great grandchildren, Chase Gill and Kendra Gill; brothers, E. L. Gillenwater, Jr. and wife, Dalphine, Kingsport, TN and Clyde Gillenwater and wife, Ruth, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. A eulogy will be given by Danny Elliott.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA by the American Legion Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
