Maude Bishop Gillenwater – Gate City, VA
Maude Gillenwater, 88, Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 after a courageous battle with Cancer.
Our Mother was born and raised in Clinchport, VA and was the daughter of the William Hansford and Dora Miller Bishop. She spent her life as a homemaker and a truly wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She enjoyed spending time cooking, quilting and crocheting. Maude was a very generous lady, never selfish about giving money or food to anyone who was in need.
In addition to her parents, her husband of 53 years, Broadus; three brothers, Claude, Kenneth, Dewey and half brother, Herbert; two sisters, Mary Ruth and Virginia Frazier ; son-in-law, Sam Vaughn preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Faye Vaughn, Duffield, VA, Phyllis Giles and husband, Billy, Gate City, VA; two sons, Larry Gillenwater and wife, Brenda, Mt. Carmel, TN, Dickie Gillenwater, Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren, Chad Giles Jason Gillenwater and wife, Tiffany, Brian Gillenwater and wife, Angie, Angel Hilton and husband, Nathan; three great grandchildren, Brysen, Brantley, Kayden and one due in October 2016; two step granddaughters, Joyce Vaughn Barnes and husband, Don , Jessica Gagne and husband, Jake; four step great grandchildren, five step great great grandchildren; along with many special nieces, nephews and friends and special little boy Riley and little girl Morgan.
The family will receive friends from 11-1 p.m., Saturday June 4, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Riley Boy and Evangelist Gary Hood officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Gillenwater- Sanders Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
