Mary Jacklyn “Jackie” Gillenwater, 76, Kingsport, TN passed away, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.
Jackie was born in Wise County, VA on March 14, 1941 to the late Baxter Jack and Mary Sturgill.
In addition to her parents, infant daughter, Jackie Lea Gillenwater; sister, Norma Jean Bowman preceded her in death.
Surviving is her loving husband, Garney Gillenwater, Kingsport, TN; son, Garney Gillenwater, Jr. and wife, Beth, Elizabethton, TN; grandchildren, Dylan Gillenwater, Bridget Balky, Olivia Guinn, and Lucas Gillenwater; sisters, Nadine Horne and husband, Clifton, Yuma, VA and Pauline Sturgill, Pound, VA; brothers, Jim Sturgill, Pound, VA, Dan Sturgill and wife, Eula, Pound, VA, Carson Sturgill and wife, Janice, Yuma, VA, Eddie Sturgill and wife, Sheryl, Pound, VA, and Teddy Sturgill and wife, Debbie, Pound, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Evangelist Rex McMurray officiating.
The burial service will immediately followed the services at the Gillenwater Cemetery in the Turkey Ridge of Midway Community, Gate City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
