Janie M. Gillenwater, 83, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.
Mrs. Gillenwater was born in Scott County, VA on December 17, 1930 to the late Kenneth and Iona Williams Gillenwater.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Lowell Gillenwater preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Danny M. Gillenwater, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Lynn K. Gillenwater, Hiltons, VA; sisters, Mataleen and husband, Charles Davidson, Gate City, VA, Aleena and husband, Paul Davis, Montpelier, IN; brothers, Charles and wife, Frances Gillenwater, Montpelier, IN, Jonah and wife, Nancy Gillenwater, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Barney Gillenwater, Kingsport, TN, Garney and wife, Mary J Gillenwater, Kingsport, TN, Roy C. and wife, Wanda Gillenwater, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Jessica Gillenwater Thomas and, husband, Nathan, Tacoma, WA; great grandchildren, Liya Thomas. Tacoma, WA; along with several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. George Lane and Rev. Walker Darnell officiating. James McConnell will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Gillenwater Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at10:00 a.m, Tuesday, June 24, 2014.
