Ida Ruth Gillenwater, 80 – Kingsport, TN
Ruth was born September 8, 1941, in Pink Hill, TN to the late Mandy Thacker. She passed away peacefully Monday, August 8, 2022, at her home and was reunited with her loving husband, Clyde and beautiful baby boy, Timmie.
While waitressing at Moccasin Gap, she met a handsome young, soldier, Private Clyde Gillenwater. Soon the couple married and went on to have the family they loved and cherished.
Ruth was a Godly mother who loved the Lord. She attended Good Shepard Baptist Church. She loved to watch her great-grandsons, Noah and Abram and looked forward to their summer breaks so they could go stay with her and eat delicious gravy she prepared for them.
Ruth was preceded in death by the love of her life, Clyde Gillenwater; son, Timmie Gillenwater; mother, Mandy Winegar; sister, Debbie Willis; and brother, Charlie Winegar.
She is survived by her sons, Terry and Kristi Gillenwater, Kingsport, TN, and Tony and Rhonda Gillenwater, Midway, VA; grandsons, Jeremiah and Amy Gillenwater, Nickelsville, VA, and Adam and Aaron Gillenwater, Midway, VA; great grandsons, Noah Gillenwater,
Abram Gillenwater, Raylan Gillenwater, and Harlan Gillenwater; great granddaughter, Arabella Gillenwater; sisters, Stella and Truman Calton, Kingsport, TN, Lorene Tester, Gray, TN, and Gertrude and Ralph Lark, Yuma, VA; and brother, Jimmy Winegar, Yuma, VA.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Holston View Cemetery Weber City, VA, with Pastor Rob Fletcher officiating. Brother Rick Harris will provide the music. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be accepting visitors any time throughout the week at the residence of Tony and Rhonda Gillenwater.
