Ella Gillenwater, 90, Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at her residence in Gate City VA. Mrs. Gillenwater was born in Scott County, VA on March 17, 1921 the daughter of the late Moscoe Brickey and Martha Neff Brickey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robie Gillenwater; daughters, Pauline Wood and Betty Stubbelfield ; son James Gillenwater; sisters, Mary Bell Sanders, Clara Elliott, Bonnie Brickey and Ollie Brickey; brothers, Leroy Brickey, Carmen Brickey and James Brickey.
She is survived by her daughters; Linda Underwood and husband Ron of Piney Flats, TN, Lorene Reed and husband Clarence Jr of Gate City, VA, Mary Ann Quillen and husband Mark of Gate City VA; sons, Samuel Gillenwater of Gate City, VA, Alvin Gillenwater of Nickelsville, VA, Grady Gillenwater and Special Daughter-In-Law Susie of Gate City,VA, Grandchildren; Sherry Ellis of Unicoi, TN, Janet Wood, Johnson City ,TN, Tracy Stubblefield, Gate City, Va, Todd Gillenwater, Nickelsville, VA, Jason Gillenwater, Coeburn, VA, Kayla Gillenwater, Gate City, VA and five great grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to care giver Bonnie Christian.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., at The Gate City Funeral Home, December 17, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Browder officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m, December 18, 2011 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Ron Underwood, Mark Quillen, Clarence Reed Jr., Butch Lane, Anthony Brickey, and Freddy Lane will serve as pallbearers. Boone Ellis, Jody Blevins, Junior " Hobert" Quillen, Fred Gibson, James Ray Gibson, and Ronnie Gene Lane will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:15 a.m., Sunday, December 18th at the Funeral Home for the graveside service.
