Wilburn Issac "Wimp" Gibson, 60, Gate City, VA passed away, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Wimp was born in Scott County, VA on February 24, 1953 to the late Junior and Alma Peters Gibson.
In addition to his parents, his infant brothers preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Judy Joyner Gibson, Gate City, VA; daughter, Tina Hopson and husband, Daniel, Gray, TN; sons, Morgan Gibson and wife, Tina, Gate City, VA and Quentin Gibson and wife, Kayla, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Kenneth Gibson, Abbie Hopson, Cyrus Gibson, Isaiah Hopson, and Casen Harmon; sister, Anita Baker, Weber City, VA; brothers, Harless Gibson, Dungannon, VA, Roy "Ross" Gibson, Fairview, VA, and Tim Gibson and wife, Sherry, Weber City, VA; special friends, George Howard and Onnie Childers; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2013 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Otto Gibson and Rev. Riley Boy officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Kenneth Gibson will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his doctor and great friend, Dr. Beth Fox.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gate City Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
