Kelly Elmer Gibson, 84, Nickelsville, VA passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Kelly was born in Wood Community of Scott Co, VA on June 2, 1932. He was the son of late Moscoe and Rosie Gibson.
He was a veteran serving in the U. S. Army. He retired from Amico Steel in Chicago after 30 years of service.
He attended Wood Review Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, his 4 brothers and 2 sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by sisters, Samantha Carruba, Kingsport, TN and Ada Darnell and husband Edgar, Nickelsville, VA; Nephew, Jim “Hoot” Gibson and niece, Eunice Dooley that grew up in the same home. Several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Cecil Kern officiating. Music is by Mickey and Nicki Summey. In lieu of flowers, family is asking for donations to be made to Wood Riverview Church c/o Deanna Nickels at 227 Wood Circle, Ft Blackmore, VA 24250.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
