Gerald W. Scalf, 75, Bristol, VA passed away, Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living, Bristol, VA. 

Gerald was born in Scott County, VA on February 8, 1949, and was the son of the late Ransome and Nella Scalf.

He was a veteran of the United States Marines. His life’s work was as an electrical engineer.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Lynna (Hall) Scalf, son, Eric Scalf, and sister, Gladys Baker preceded him in death.

Gerald is survived by his sisters. Loraine Brooks, Carolyn Griffin and husband, Marvin, and Wilma Compton and husband, Leland, brothers, Cecil Scalf and wife, Dulcie, Larry Scalf and wife, Jean, Malcolm Scalf, Leon Scalf and wife, Regina, and Vanus Scalf and wife, Cathy, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p. m., Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Strong officiating. Eulogy will be given by brothers Leon Scalf and Vanus Scalf.

Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post # 3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
