George Randall Thacker- Gate City, VA

George Randall Thacker, 69, Gate City, VA, passed away, Monday, July 22, 2024, at his residence. 

George was born in Yuma, VA, on March 21, 1955, to the late Wilburn Bud Thacker, and Thelma Faye Horton Thacker. 

He attended Catron’s Chapel Church in Kermit, VA. 

In addition to his parents, an infant daughter, Tana Louise Thacker; and brother, Kenny Thacker, preceded him in death. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Nannie Mae (Crawford) Thacker; daughters, Pamela Gilmer (Travis), and Jamie Moore (Jeremiah); grandchildren, Ethan, Jacob, Noah, and Henry Gilmer, Samuel and Levi Moore; sister, Phyllis Horton; special sisters-in-law, Ima Jean Crawford, Elminia Dougherty, and Linda Thacker; special brothers-in-law, Junior (Paulette) Crawford, and Robert (Nella Mae) Crawford; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in Nannie’s Chapel of the funeral home with Larry Tolley officiating. The Hensley Family will provide the music. 

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Thacker Cemetery, Hawkins County, TN. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45a.m., for the graveside service. 

Jeremiah Moore, Kevin Moore, Travis Gilmer, Bruce Blessing, Steve Crabtree, and Ethan Gilmer will serve as pallbearers. Mark Hensley, Harry Bellamy, and Allen Dougherty will serve as honorary pallbearers.
