Robert Lewis Gardner – Hiltons, VA
Bob was born October the 9th, 1936 to Edd and Vada Gardner on Boozy Creek in Scott County, Virginia.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Zella Mae Gardner, his daughter, Brenda Waterson, and his granddaughter, Brianna Waterson. Bob's immediate family includes the Gardner brothers: Bill, Darrel (Teed), Howard, Hal, Wayne (Butch), and their families. He is also survived by his in-laws, Alverna Carrier, Margie McKinney, Shelia Harper, Guy Carrier and their families, and the family of the late James Carrier. Numerous extended family members live throughout the Southeastern United States.
He will be remembered by those who knew him as a warm and loving family man and friend with a generous heart, a kind spirit, and an infectious laugh. Bob's unwavering faith in the Lord served him well throughout his life. He was called home on June 25, 2009.
Visitation will be held on June 27th, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Gate City Funeral Home, with services to follow. His nephews will serve as pallbearers at the Military Graveside Service on Sunday, June 28th, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Mendota Cemetery, where family and friends will meet for the graveside service.
