Danny Charles Freeman-Gate City, VA
Danny Freeman, 57, Gate City, VA lost a courageous fight with cancer on September 9, 2015. He passed away at home with family and friends by his side.
Danny Freeman lived most of his life in the Yuma Community and attended Cleveland Elementary. Danny was a retired truck driver and employee of Mini Fibers in Johnson City, TN for many years. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. Mr. Freeman had a passion for music and played and sang Bluegrass.
He is preceded in death by his father Thomas (Tom) Freeman and his mother Betty Jo Williams; his Grandparents Clarence and Bertha Morrison, and Claude K and Eliza V. Freeman.
He is survived by his three loving children, daughters, Margaret Marie Lane and friend Scotty Edwards of Kingsport, TN, Jennifer Rose Freeman and fiance Randy Murphy of Kingsport, TN; Son, Thomas J. (TJ) Freeman and wife Felisha Sawyer of the Yuma Community, VA; Sisters, Betty Ruth Duvall and husband Jerry of Williamston, NC, Linda McDavid and husband J.C. of Kingsport, TN, Wanda Wineger and fiance Shannon Foster of the Yuma Community, VA; Brothers, Tommy Freeman of Carters Valley, James (Jim) Freeman and wife Lisa of Duffield, VA; 8 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Freeman is also survived by his loving companion “Duke.”
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Gate City Funeral Home in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 7 pm with Brother Pete Barber officiating.
Military Graveside services will be held at Freeman Family Cemetery in the Yuma Community at 11 am on Monday, September, 14, 2015 and will be conducted by American Legion Post 3/265. Pall Bearers will be Randy Murphy, Shannon Foster, Allen Keith, Danny Enix, Tucker Brinkley and Rick Davis.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 10 am to go in procession to the graveside.
