Creed Carter Frazier, 88, Gate City, VA was surrounded by his family when he went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2013.
Carter was born in Scott County, VA on August 22, 1924 to the late John Henry and Ida Carter Frazier.
He was a 1943 graduate of Shoemaker High School and a member of Marble Point Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII, serving in the European Theater and the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Molly Boy Frazier, Gate City, VA; daughter, Cindy Frazier Mabry, Morristown, TN; sons, Johnny Frazier, Bean Station, TN and Gary Frazier and wife, Terri, Cary, NC; grandchildren, Blake Frazier, Morgan Bowlin and husband, Daniel, and Tyler Mabry; brother, Jimmy Frazier and wife, Lindal (Lynda), Blountville, TN; uncle, Bill Carter and wife, Janie, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army Nation al Guard Honor Guard at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Carter-Frazier Cemetery, Gate City, VA. Blake Frazier, Brett Frazier, Danny Neal, Tyler Mabry, Daniel Bowlin, and Jim Wampler will serve as pallbearers. Members of Marble Point Men's Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Marble Point Church Building Fund in care of Helen McDavid, 3142 Daniel Boone Road, Gate City, VA 24251.
