Bascom "Booty" France 83, Gate City, VA, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014at Nova Health Care, Weber City, Va.
He was born in Scott County, VA onMay, 10, 1930 to the late Melvin Milo and Roma McDavid France. He attended Red Hill Freewill Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, his wife Virgie M. France; sisters, Minnie Williams, Rena Templeton, Norma Pendleton, and Kate Hart; and brothers, Willard, Robert, Cliffton, Daniel, Kenneth, and George France preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Joann France, Jonesborough; grandchildren, Dustin and Bridgette France; sisters, Doris Spivey, Kingsport, TN, Alma Lynch Kingsport, TN, Rosie Williams, Gate City, VA and Eva Hart, Detroit, MI.; brother; Fred France, Panama City FL; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Alan Hensley and Rev. Vernon McDavid officiating. Patsy Hensley and Betty and Darius Hall will provide the music.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard.
Duane Scott. Randy Bates, Jim Coley, Clayton McDavid, Erik Musick. Randy McDavid and Kassie Stewart will serve as pallbearers. James Jones, Larry Potts, Joe Lawson, and Danny Calton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Wilma Patrick, Danny Calton, and Tina Akers for all their help with Booty and to the nurses and CNA's at Nova Health and Rehab Center, Weber City, VA for their wonderful care.
