Deryl Ford – Church Hill, TN
Deryl Hoyt Ford was born in Scott County, VA on May 4, 1930, and passed away, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 with his wife and daughter by his side.
He graduated from Rye Cove High School and served his country in the US Navy for 4 years aboard the USS Mississippi during the Korean War (1949 – 1953).
He was a Mason at Clinchport Lodge No.267AF/AM, and was member of Crossroads United Methodist Church.
Deryl retired from A.F.G. Industries (Greenland Plant) after 37 years as a Superintendent of Fabrication.
He had a loving and caring support group during his illness. Deryl will be missed.
He loved to play golf when he was able. He loved to camp, spend time with his family and friends, and Southern Gospel music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Lillie Belle (Stacy) Ford; his first wife, Helen Rhoton Ford; brothers-in-law, Dewey Bishop and H.C. Ervin; and his nephew, Gennis Hogan Ford, II.
Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-nine and a half years, Nancy Crawford Ford; daughter, Sally (Betsy) France; step-son, John Williams and wife, Charlotte; sisters, Wanda Geraldine Bishop, Bobbie Ervin, and Clara Lee Lane and husband, Claude; brothers, Wally Ford and wife, Sharon, Gennis Ford and wife, Phyllis; brother-in-law, Joey (Sam) Crawford and Harriett; grandchildren, Michael France and wife, Angie, Jeanne France; great grandchildren, Autumn Banks and husband, Caleb, Levi France, Ali France, and Toni France; along with several nieces and nephews, and special friends who checked on Deryl often, Wayne and Martha June McGee, Pam Crawford, and Kay Light.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Military services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Honor Guard. Funeral services will follow with Pastor Randy Lantz and Chaplain Bobby Kitts officiating. Phillips and Banks will provide the music.
Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. His nephews will serve as pallbearers. Wayne McGee, Tom Dougherty, Johnny Willis, and Tom Osucha will serve as honorary pallbearers.
