Mrs. Opal Kimbler Flanary, 88, passed away, Saturday, January 14, 2012 due to illness.
Mrs. Flanary was born in Russell County, VA on December 12, 1923 to the late Rufus and Eliza Kimbler. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband of sixty years, George "Dewey" Flanary; son-in-law, Bill Head; brothers, Emmett, Wilburn, and Arnold Kimbler; sisters, Pearl Stallard, Ada Sanders, and Cecil Kimbler; a niece and several nephews preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Head, Gate City, VA; granddaughters, Kathy Head, Gate City, VA, and Christy Head, Kingsport, TN; sisters, Janie Kimbler, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Lillian Kimbler, Ft. Blackmore, VA, and Ruby Sanders, Blountville, TN; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m.in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Keith McNew officiating. Jim McConnell and Pine Grove Harmony will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Paul Sanders, Lawton Stallard, Richard Harris, Ben Head, William Kimbler, and Chris Kimbler will serve as pallbearers. Richard Shipley will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Holston View Cemetery for the graveside service.
The family wishes to extend their special thanks to Dr. Andy Delwadia and his staff, and to the staff of Continuum Care, Weber City for their love and care of Mrs. Flanary.
