Lottie Bernice Flanary – Gate City, VA
Lottie Bernice Flanary, 94, Gate City, VA passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Wellmont Hospice Care in Kingsport, TN.
Lottie was born on March 15, 1924. She had recently celebrated her 94th birthday at home with her family. Lottie is the daughter of the late Letha Mae (Starnes) Hobbs and John Houston Hobbs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy (Bud) Flanary and precious daughter-in-law, Betty, who she loved as her own; her brothers, Edgar, Gene (Gloria), Glen (Pauline), Carl (Hazel), and Garnie Hobbs, and her sister, Sue Powers (Omer), who she raised like a daughter; and nephew, Tim Powers.
She is survived by her son, Bill Flanary, who she loved dearly and who has always taken the best care of her; granddaughter, Rhonda Williams and husband, Stuart; grandson, Travis Flanary; great grandchildren, Lauren, Jacob, and Audrey Williams, and Clara and Abby Flanary. When her great grandchildren came along, she became affectionately known as “LaLa”. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her only sibling, her sister, Faye Robinette, who she talked to almost every day. Lottie is also survived by Haven Hobbs (Garnie), a faithful sister-in-law and prayer warrior for her especially these last few days; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her Hospice nurses – Jo, Tina, and Amye. They treated her and our family with loving and compassionate care. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Wesley Eastridge, who had not only been her doctor but her friend, and to all the nurses and staff at Mountain Region Family Medicine of Gate City. Pastor Jeff DeBoard has also been right beside us on this journey. We are forever grateful to each one of you.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m, Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff DeBoard officiating. Chris Holder will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
