Ira Gentry Flanary

Ira Gentry Flanary, 82 of Fowlerville, Michigan passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 after an extended illness.
Gentry was born in Scott County, Virginia and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. After the War, he moved to Detroit, Michigan and was employed by General Motors Corporation. Gentry retired from General Motors after working there for 30 years. He was a 32 Degree Mason and was a member of the Detroit Masonic Lodge and the Dryden, Virginia Masonic Lodge.
Gentry was preceded in death by his father Nathan Flanary, mother Mae Flanary, brothers Bill Flanary, Troy "Bud" Flanary and Robert Ray Flanary.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Reba Kate Rhoton Flanary, three daughters, Deborah Wellman and husband Greg, Brighton, Michigan, Jenny Lynne Salsini and husband Bob, Metamora, Michigan, Lisa Annette Gamble, Westland Michigan, one grandson, Scott Hathorne, Hartland, Michigan, two granddaughters, Emily MacFarlane, Metamora, Michigan, Lindsay Kate Gamble, Westland, Michigan, four great grandsons, Nicholas and Jacob Hathorne, Andrew and Joseph Breeding, one sister, Wilma McClellan, Kingsport, Tn., a special cousin O. A. Quillen, Slant, Va and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Gate City Funeral Home. Masonic Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. by Masonic Lodge #326 Dryden, Virginia Thursday evening immediately following at Gate City Funeral Home. Burial will be Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Carter Cemetery in Stoney Creek, Va. Family and friends will meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
