Carolyn Elliott Flanary – Richmond, VA
Carolyn Elliott Flanary, 74 of Richmond, VA died unexpectedly February 21, 2015 at her home.
Carolyn was born in Gate City, VA on September 6, 1940 to the late Clive and Helen Elliott.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years James R. Flanary, one sister Louise King, and a very special niece Caitlyn Elliott Duncan.
She is survived by her only son Mark Elliott Flanary of Richmond and her puppy Abby; sister Sandra Porter and husband Walter, sister Sharon Duncan and husband Darrell; brother-in-law Jim King, Port Orange, FL; brother in law Charles Flanary and wife Carletta; several nieces and nephews, and special neighbors, Kim Grosser and two very special young ladies Kayla and Mackenzie Grosser who knew her as Grandma.
Carolyn worked for the Scott County School Board before moving to Richmond in 1982 where she retired from the State of Virginia Department of Education. Carolyn enjoyed her family, retirement, traveling & loved to shop.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 27, at Gate City Funeral Home from 5 - 7 or anytime at the home of Sharon & Darrell Duncan. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7 pm in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Hanshew officiating.
Graveside Services will be conducted Saturday, February 28, at 11:00 am at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Pallbearers will be Terry Porter, Kyler Harley, Bobby Flanary, Brian Shaw, Gary Bradley, and Yost Connor. Ronnie Flanary will serve as honorary pallbearer..
