BETTY MUSICK FLANARY
Betty Musick Flanary, 70, Gate City, VA, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 24, 2016, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 3, 1946, a daughter of the late Garvie and Annie Blair Musick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Shaffer, Jerlene Musick, her brother Herschel Musick, and her father-in-law Troy (Bud) Flanary.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Bill; her children, whom she loved dearly, Rhonda Williams and husband Stuart, Travis Flanary and wife Lori; her precious grandchildren, who were her pride and joy; Lauren, Jacob and Audrey Williams, Clara Beth and Abby Flanary. Surviving sisters include; Mildred McConnell (Bill), Carolyn Maddux (George), Wanda Spears (James), Edith Salling, Nina Brickey (Warner). Surviving brothers include; Edisol (Edna), Johnnie (Darenda), and Willie Mack (LaWanda). Betty is also survived by her special mother-in-law, Lottie Flanary, whom she loved dearly, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday, September 26, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service may meet at 1:45 p.m., at the cemetery. Jeff DeBoard will lead services and the Potter Family will provide music.
The family would like to thank Nova Health & Rehab Center for the care and hospitality shown to our entire family. Special thanks to JoAnna Edds and to Mom’s loving and compassionate nurses Carolyn Ridings, Avril Givens, Melinda Williams, Dakota Lewis and Becky Barnett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Gate City’s backpack ministry.
