Gate City, VA – Cecil Finch, 94, entered into rest Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital.
He was born in Scott County, VA April 13, 1915. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Morning Finch.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, C.L. Finch and a daughter, Regina Elliott.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Finch, Gate City, VA; sons, Rick, James, and Wayne Finch; daughters, Susanne Flanary, Gerlene Owens, Sharon Babb, Mary Boggs, Rita Cumbo and Sally Cleek; special granddaughter, Maryann Cleek; brother, Bob Finch; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends form 5-7 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. William Berry and Rev. Denny Hass officiating. Music will be provided by David and Tina Berry and Laura Darnell.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Kerns Cemetery, Rye Cove, VA. The family will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be David Cleek, Palmer Robbinet, Terry W. Compton, Jamie Henderson, Jacob Dingus, and Blake Finch.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations may be made to Gate City Funeral Home, P.O. Box 427, Gate City, VA 24251.
