Willie Walker Fields – Mabe, VA Willie Walker Fields, 86, Mabe, VA passed away July 4, 2010 at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital. Born in Scott County, VA on June 20, 1924, son of the late James Robert (Bob) and Della Mae (Dalton) Fields, he was retired from Phillips Tree Experts, and a member of Mabe Chapel Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Omer, Prentis, Kyle, Floyd, and Virgil Fields; sisters, Phobea Fields Baker, Rachel Fields Qualls, and Rosie Fields Fritz. Surviving are his sisters, Kelly Fields Hill, Duffield, VA, Agnes Fields Lane, Kingsport, TN, and Matilda Fields Carter, Ft. Blackmore, VA; brother, Ray Fields, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Kyle Akers and the Rev. Joe Roberts officiating. Durham's Chapel Quartet will provide the music. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Hill-Carter Cemetery, Mabe, VA. Friends and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
