She was born in Sullivan County, TN on August 4, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Toy Vincent and Mae Irene Taylor Mullins.
In addition to her parents, her brothers Gaines Mullins and Mark Taylor preceded her in death.
Hattie was a fierce, sassy presence in all the lives around her. She loved books, reading, and underdog advocacy.
She made her readers see new perspectives during her twenty-eight years at the Kingsport Times-News. All who knew her strived for better with her.
Surviving is her husband, Edward Alan “Ed” Falin, Gray, TN; daughter, Bekki Spivey Repass and husband, Kevin, Kingsport, TN; sons, Robert Joseph “Bob” Spivey and wife, Becky, Kingsport, TN and David Wayne Falin and wife, Stephanie, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Summer Spivey, Jacob Spivey, Matt Edwards, Dacey Falin, Riley Falin, and Luke Falin; step grandchild, Summer Hamrick; great grandson, Destery Spivey; step great grandson, Jonas Hamrick; sister, Jamie Mullins, Clinchport, VA; brothers, Vincent Mullins and wife, Anita, Duffield, VA and Greg Mullins and wife, Tammy, Ft. Blackmore, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the residence of her daughter, Bekki.
It was the request of Mrs. Falin to be cremated. A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
