Mrs. Martha Ellen Estep, "Ellen", 78, Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at her residence.
Mrs. Estep was born in Scott County, VA on March 29, 1933, the daughter of the late Arthur and Venus Lark Fields.
Ellen worked as a waitress in many local restaurants, and she was a great animal lover having taken in many over the years.
In addition to her parents, Arthur Fields (1982) and Venus Fields (1988) she was preceded in death by her husband, Bayse Estep (1977); son Carlos Estep (2005); and brother Jack Fields (2000).
She is survived by her son, Clifford Estep and wife, Janet, Gate City, VA; daughter-in-law, Vickie Estep, SC; grandchildren, Heather Estep, Gate City, VA, Celesa Broadwater, Gate City, VA, and Tyler Estep, Gate City, VA; great grandchildren, Nora Estep and Clay Broadwater; friends who are like family, Wilber and Nat Craft, Sandy Lester, and Kim Khabr.
The family will receive friends from 3- 5 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 201 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her son. A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Steve Collins officiating.

Following the wishes of Mrs. Estep, her body was cremated.
