John Alan Estep – Gate City, VA
John Alan Estep (Pap), 60, Gate City, VA left his earthly home and was welcomed to his eternal home, Monday, July 13, 2015, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN surrounded by his family.
John was born in Sullivan County, TN on October 23, 1954 to the late Ed and Elizabeth Taylor Collingworth. He retired from Frazier/Mann Oil Company after 10 years of service after 32 years with the Kingsport Press.
He was a banjo player with Radio City Gospel Bluegrass and enjoyed playing music at area nursing homes on Tuesday nights.
In addition to his parents; a special brother-in-law, Wayne Davidson; sister-in-law, Andi Estep and sister, Pam Ellis preceded him in death.
Left to mourn his passing but rejoicing knowing that he is with his Lord and Savior is his loving wife of 32 years, Brenda McGee Estep, Yuma, VA; daughter, Amy Estep Elam and husband, Wayne, Kingsport, TN; sons, Jeffery Allen Fields and wife, LaCosta, Yuma, VA, James Alan Estep and wife, Monica, GA, sister, Claudell Williams and husband, Gary, Kingsport, TN, brothers, Don Estep and wife, Gerena, Church Hill, TN, Robert Estep, PA; mother-in-law, Hazel McGee Darnell; father-in-law, Rev. Walker Darnell; brothers-in-law, Sam McGee and wife, Pat, Mack McGee and wife, Cora, Henry McGee and wife, Sue, Glen McGee, Bobby McGee and wife, Michelle, Charles McGee and wife, Trish; sisters-in-law, Joyce Davison, Emogene Quillen and husband, H.E.; his bestest buddy, precious grandson, Caden Allen Fields; grandchildren, Brock, Sara, Brianna, Trey, Alec, Austin, Jack James, Shyella; along with a host of nieces, nephews, his church family at Catron Chapel, who he loved so dearly and all his buddies at J. Fred Sheltons store.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Larry Tolley officiating. Oak Glen Singers will provide the music.
Grave side services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and Friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
