Brenda Estep

February 25, 1959 — February 11, 2018

Brenda McGee Estep, of the Yuma Community, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, February 11, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her father Sam Wesley McGee, step-father Walker Darnell, her husband John Estep, special brother-in-law “like a second father” Wayne Davidson, brother-in-law Donald Estep, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Andie Estep, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pam and Ronnie Ellis.
Brenda worked 25 years at the Kingsport Press, at both the Kingsport and Hawkins County plants, until its closing in 2000. She was a member of Catron’s Chapel Baptist Church and an active volunteer at Yuma Elementary School.
She is survived by her mother Hazel McGee Darnell, son Jeff and wife LaCosta Fields, sister and “second mother” Joyce Davidson, sister Emogene and husband H.E. Quillen; brothers Sam and wife Pat McGee, Henry and wife Sue McGee, Mack and wife Cora McGee, Bobby and wife Michelle McGee, Charles and wife Trish McGee and Glen McGee; grandsons Caden and Cooper Fields. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Claudel and Gary Williams; special “sister” Kim Davidson Wilson and husband Steve, also several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday February 14, 2018 at Gate City Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Brother Larry Tolley and Rev. Wayne Hedrick officiating. Grace Bruner and Janice Sharpe will be providing the music.

The graveside service will be on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are requested to meet at the funeral at 12:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the staff of Wellmont Hospice, especially Ms. Liza and Mr. “Bear” and to the Kingsport Oncology staff and nurses, also to Dr. McElroy and nurse Joyce. Also a special Thank You to family friends, Betsy Gibson and Tootsie Bellamy for their care and love of Brenda and her family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Kingsport Hematology & Oncology Snack Fund, 4485 W. Stone Drive, Ste. 200, Kingsport, TN 37660 in Brenda’s honor.
