Hiram Charlie Ervin, Jr. – Gate City, VA
Hiram (H.C.) Ervin, Jr., 87, Kingsport, TN but spent most of his life in Scott County, VA in the Manville community, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning on December 2, 2015 with members of his family by his side.
Born May 4, 1928 in Scott County, VA, H. C. was preceded in death by his father and mother, Hiram C. and Lydia (Templeton) Ervin, four sisters and five brothers.
Those left to cherish memory include his loving wife of almost 65 years (December 30, 2015), Bobbie Ford Ervin; son, Keith Ervin (Melanie) of Griffin, GA and daughter, Teresa Grills (Hugh) of Kingsport, TN; seven grandchildren, Brian McDavid, Brad Ervin, Robyn Kwok, Amy Johnson, Nicole Pike, Brian Smith and Lance Smith; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters-in-law, and many friends.
H. C. was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Special thanks to grandson, Brian McDavid, daughter, Teresa and son-in-law, Hugh Grills for their loving care for Pa every day for the past few weeks. Also, thanks to our family and friends , hospice nurses and Chaplin for their kind support during this time.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Bob Cloud and Rev. Steve Templeton officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. His nephews and brothers-in-law will serve as honorary pallbearers.
