Myrtle Hill Egan, 97, Duffield, VA went to her heavenly home on Wednesday June 19, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital following a brief illness.
Myrtle was born in Scott County, VA September 8, 1921 to the late Dan and Jennie (Bowen) Hill.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Fred K. Egan; sisters, Tavi Ashworth and Elva Kern; and brothers Floyd Hill, Dewey Hill, and Milford Hill preceded her in death.
Myrtle loved her hummingbirds as well as her flowers. She raised three children on her own with the help of the Lord. She loved the Lord and was a Christian. She often talked about someone watching over her.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kathy Nadizane Perry, Latrobe, PA; son, Jay B. Egan and wife Debbie, Duffield, VA and Marion Egan, Duffield, VA; grandchildren, Jennifer Stephens, Jake and Holly Perry, Josh and Emily Egan, Brandy and Daniel Bishop, Salena and Matt Curry, Michael and Penny Egan, and Holly Egan; 15 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and one step great great grandchild; son-in-law, Roy Perry, York, PA; along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Debbie Egan. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Cecil Kern and Pastor Denny Hass officiating. Homebound will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the Allen Cemetery in Casteel Hollow, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m., Sunday to go in procession to the graveside service.
