Wanda E. Edwards, 87, Gate City, VA went to be with her Lord on Friday August 24, 2018 at Nova Health and Rehab.
Wanda was born in Scott County to the late Wright Ervin and Monnie Musick Ervin on November 16, 1930.
Along with her parents she was proceeded in death by her Husband Johnnie (Jay) Edwards; step-mother Fannie Ervin; sisters, Lorene Carter, Ruth Qualls and brothers, Howard, Dan and Bob Ervin.
Wanda was a loving mother who devoted her life to her Lord, her church, and her sons. She was a faithful Christian who loved to spread the word of God with all she met. She was a Charter Member and was known as the Matriarch of Alley Valley Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Daryl Edwards, Mike (Anna) Edwards, Doug Edwards; grandchildren, Michael Davidson, Heather Dougherty; great-grandchildren, Kayla Daugherty, Gracey, Josh Rhoten, June and Greg Davidson; great-great-grandchildren, Bo, Weston and Kaylee Mathes; sister, Shirley Fields; special friend, Jewel Anderson; special niece Rita Fansler and several other nieces and nephews; along with her church family.
Junior Leonard, Eddie Carter, Larry Fields, Ricky Fansler, Kelly Sexton, Greg Fields will be serving as pallbearers. Wayne Sanders, Ronnie Hicks, George Gibson, Darin Thompson, Sam Poole, Steve Ferguson, Odos Qualls, James Carter, Mike Ownes, and Steve Ervin will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home and others time at the residence and at the home of Mike and Anna. Funeral services will be conducted at Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Dewey Shaffer, and the Roberts Family will provide music.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday, August the 27th at 11:00 a.m. at the Ervin cemetery on Manville Road Gate City, VA.
