Vickie Darlene Edens, 44 Duffield, VA
Vickie was a special angel sent from heaven to Rufus and Visey Edens December 19, 1966. She was born with illness but she was a wonderful ray of sunshine with a tender heart that would always put a smile on everyone's face. Vickie loved being with her mom that cared for her totally until her sickness could not be cared for at home. She loved watching TV, working puzzles and attending church with her mom at Gate City Church of God. Her favorite song was Amazing Grace.
Vickie was preceded in death by her father Rufus Edens, brother Elmer Edens, great nephew Joshua Barnette and sister-in-law Debbie Edens.
Survivors include mother Visey Edens of Duffield; sister Lula Underwood and brother-in-law Jay of Big Stone Gap, VA; brothers Phil Edens and sister-in-law Crystal of Duffield; Lester Edens of Duffield; Kenneth Edens of Duffield; and Wayne Edens of Big Stone Gap; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the staff of Ridgecrest Nursing Home in Duffield and a special thank you to nurses Crystal Bowling and Carla Osborne at Ridgecrest. The family would also like to thank all of the church family of Speers Ferry Church for all of their prayers and support they gave during Vickie's sickness.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Speers Ferry Church with funeral services at 7 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Edens Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
