Joan Annette Easterling – Big Moccasin, Nickelsville, VA
On Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 11:41 p.m., Jesus took Joan by the hand and led her to the greatest reunion of all time in Heaven, and there she will wait on the rest of her family to join her and then the celebration will really begin.
Joan was born on June 2, 1964 in Sullivan County, TN, and was the daughter of the late Dee and Kathleen (Light) Simpson.
She was a great Sunday school teacher at Greenwood Chapel for many years. She enjoyed her Sunday school children so much, and many she still knew in their adult life. She felt her main purpose was to serve and inspire other people. Joan was a very humble lady, and a precious wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, her grandchild, Abraham Richard Howell; sister, Lois Stapleton; and brothers, Randall and Rick Simpson preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Roger Easterling, Big Moccasin; daughters, Kristie Pippin and husband, Harrison, Bristol, VA, Jessica Howell and husband, Richard, Big Moccasin, VA, and Pennie Jarrett and husband, Randy, Big Moccasin, VA; grandchildren, Isabella Pippin, Charity Howell, Hailey Jarrett, and Autumn Jarrett; brothers, David Simpson, Church Hill, TN, Bob Simpson, Church Hill, TN, and Gary Simpson, Church Hill, TN; special sister-in-law and friend, Syble Dotson; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Roy Lane, Pastor Eddie Taylor, and Pastor Donnie Archer officiating. Lisa McCracken, Kay Smith Elliott, and David and Debbie Easterling will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Francisco Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Mark McCracken, Gary Stapleton, Travis Simpson, Dakota Howell, Eli Starnes, Shannon Stapleton, Jordan Gardner, and Danny Howell will serve as pallbearers.
