Amanda June Dulaney went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of Duffield, she was a daughter of the late Worley A. and Mattie Taylor Dulaney.
June was a Christian and attended Thomas Village Baptist Church as long as she was able. She loved the Lord, her family, and friends. She had a compassionate heart and was very sensitive to the needs of others. June was a very loving and caring aunt and is loved dearly by her nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Fairview High School, Hiwassee College, received a B.S. Degree from Radford College and a M.A. Degree from Union College. She was a teacher in the Scott County School System for 42 years, retiring in 1991.
In addition to her parents, her four sisters, Mae Pearcy, Anna Lee Price, Dama Bledsoe, and Madge Dulaney; brother, Robert H. Dulaney; a special great nephew, Eric Christian; and a special cousin, Zane Carter preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews, Judith Bledsoe, Blackwater, VA, Sue Pearcy, Patricia Moore and husband, Jim, Kyle Pearcy and wife, Elizabeth, all of Church Hill, TN and Richard Dulaney, Kingsport, TN; great nephew, Brad and wife, Rebecca; great nieces, Hillary and Nicky; great great nieces and nephews, Brooke, Bristol, Peyton, Paxton, Parker, Cashlynn, and Monroe; special neighbor, Dorothy Livesay; and special long time friend, Mozelle Carter; special friends, Audrey Ervin, Helen Bowen, and Barbara Pearcy and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Garry Edwards officiating. Nancy Rhoton will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA conducted by Evangelist Kenneth Neeley. Kyle Pearcy, Brad Christian, Jim Moore, Jim Bowlin, Bill Pearcy, Cloise Smith, Richard Dulaney, and Dakota Pearcy will serve as pallbearers. Guy Tignor, Rick Smith, Paul Arwood, Keith Roach, Frank Begley, and Greg Olinger will serve as honorary pallbearers.
