Roger D. Dougherty, 66, Gate City, passed away December 24, 2013 in Kingsport.
Mr. Dougherty was born January 16, 1947 in Sullivan County to the late Paul Dougherty and Emma Sue Turlington.
Roger was a graduate of Gate City High School and attended East Tennessee State University. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served two tours, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Roger was an avid animal lover and a devoted son, brother and uncle.
In addition to his parents, his brother Daniel Paul preceded him in death.
Survivors include his Uncle Junior Dougherty of Yuma, nephews Eric, Brian, Paul and niece Dana.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard at Holston View Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
