Julia Mae Dorton, 72, passed away January 2, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Dorton was born in Scott County, VA on February 15, 1943 to Wanda Kaylor Necessary and the late Elmer “Buster” Lee Kaylor.
Along with Mrs. Dorton’s father, she is preceded in death by the father of her children, Sherill Dorton; grandsons Kevin Dorton, Mesieh Maxwell; granddaughter, Beverly Loving; brother, Tommy Kaylor.
Mrs. Dorton is survived by her mother, Wanda Kaylor Necessary, Appalachia, VA; sons, Edward Dorton and friend, Janice, Fort Blackmore, VA, Terry Dorton and wife Wanda, Fort Blackmore, VA, Randy Dorton and wife Lisa, Indiana, Darwin Dorton, Fort Blackmore, VA, James Dorton and fiancée, Shellie, TN, Mark Dorton and fiancée, Rachel, Kingsport, TN, Ryan Dorton and friend, Kayla, Weber City, VA; brothers, David Kaylor and wife, Geri, Appalachia, VA; grandchildren, Shanel, ShawnKaria, Dakota, Michael, Joseph, Bradley, Amber, Adam, Marisha; great-grandchildren, Abby, Josh, Barry Jr., Amora, Connor, Austin, Brinlee; as well as two great- grandchildren expected in June or July; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 pm in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home with Dr. Todd Cassell and Rev. Danny Darnell officiating. The music will be provided by Toke Hensley and James Lawson.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Flanary Cemetery in the Stony Creek Community of Fort Blackmore. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 10:00 am to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to Wanda and Terry Dorton for their loving care of their mother.
