Mrs. Selma Jean Dorton, 72, Gate City, VA joined her Heavenly Father Sunday, March 10, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Dorton was born in Scott County, VA on November 29, 1940 to the late Rufus and Emmer Jane Baker Calton.
In addition to her parents, 2 sisters, Alberta Fagert and Margaret Calton and 2 brothers, Tivis Fields and Norman Calton preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, James Ronnie Dorton, Gate City, VA; daughters, Maggie Dorton Howington, Kingsport, TN and Cathy Dorton Stacey and husband, Daniel, Yuma, VA; sons, Jim Dorton and wife, Sue, Stanley Valley, TN and Gary Wayne Dorton and wife, Bobbie, Victoria, VA; grandchildren, Christy Vaughn Reynolds, Sheena Vaughn Craft, Jennifer Dorton Arnold, Jackie Lynn Dorton, Gabriel Stacey, Aaron Stacey, Jeremy Arnold, and Kyra Dorton; great grandchildren, Jayden Berry, Codie Reynolds, Annabelle Craft, Jaxon Arnold, and Emma Arnold; sister, Margie Calton, Yuma, VA; brothers, Corbin Calton, Church Hill, TN, Robert Calton and wife, Carolyn, Yuma, VA, and Doyle Calton, Daniel Boone, VA; along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Oak Glen Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted in the sanctuary of the church at 7:00 p.m. with Rev Danny Sykes and Rev. Boyd Holder officiating. Kathy Fugate, Lisa Kincer, J.E. and Carol Mauk, and Boyd and Sharon Holder will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the V.A. Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN with Rev. J.E. Mauk officiating. Aaron Stacey, Gabriel Stacey, Daniel Stacey, Jackie Dorton, Frank Dorton, and Jeremy Arnold will serve as pallbearers. David Dorton, Louie McLane, Steve Hill, Gary Phillips, David Sproles, Claude Elkins, and Bob Sloan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m., for the graveside service.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Oak Glen Building Fund, P.O. Box 158, Gate City, VA 24251.

Mrs. Dorton was born in Scott County, VA on November 29, 1940 to the late Rufus and Emmer Jane Baker Calton.
