Gladys Mae Egan Dockery, 88, Kingsport, TN and formerly of Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Dockery was born in Scott County, VA on November 28, 1919, daughter of the late Charles (P.R.) and Callie Starnes Egan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Grady M. Dockery, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Grady M. Dockery, Kingsport, TN, daughters, Wilma Statzer and husband, Lonnie and Ann Jones and husband, Randall, son, Grady Elmer Dockery and wife, Margaret, grandchildren, Sherry Linkous and husband, Jamie who was her special caregiver, Kristy LaDuke and husband, Jason, Michael Templeton and wife, Tracy, Brandy Nothnagel and husband, David, Amanda Prillhart and husband, Bradley, Rachel Livengood and husband, Todd, great grandchildren, Nicholas Moore, Jessica Moore and fianc?, Ricky Haney, Taylor LaDuke, Kaytlin LaDuke, Haley LaDuke, Brandon Templeton, Matthew Templeton, Olivia Nothnagel, Christian Carter and Sean Prillhart, great great grandson, Ryan Smith, sister, Jane Olinger and husband, J.D.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Clifford Pierson, Rev. Mike Ervin and the Rev. Paul Presley officiating. The Denton Family will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the Lawson Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore, VA. Vincent Mullins, Wayne Salling, Bill Wallen, Billy Egan, David Roach, Ray Salling, George Rollins, Carl Frazier, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Coy Hass and Palmer "Hop" Pierson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to express their special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Wilcox Hall Hospice Unit for their wonderful care.
