Gertrude Dockery – Ft. Blackmore, VA Mrs. Gertrude Dockery, 83, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Monday, August 2, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Scott County, VA on August 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ezra and Lela Gillenwater. In addition to her parents, her husband, Claude Swanson Dockery; brothers, Eugene, Cecil, and Garnie Gillenwater; her sister, Geneva Cousins, and step-sons, Ralph and Ross Dockery preceded her in death. Surviving is her daughter, Carol Dockery Brock, Jonesborough, TN; sons, Gary Dockery, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Randy Dockery, Mount Carmel, TN; grandchildren, Steven Speaks, Matt Sanders, Christy Mullins, Haley and Alley Dockery, and Jessica Thomas; great grandchildren, Conner, Caleb, Madison, and Lauryn, along with several step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. G.W. White officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Strong Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Steven Speaks, Matt Sanders, Adam Thomas, Chris Mullins, Josh Kilgore, John Hilton, Tyler Kilgore, and Barry Dockery will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
