Doris Ann Dockery – Duffield, VA
Doris Ann Dockery, 70, Duffield, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Indian Path Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Dockery was born in Scott County, VA on August 1, 1942 to the late Charlie Clifton and Myrtle Elizabeth Carter Hass.
In addition to her parents, her newborn twin grandsons, Cody and Joshua Duncan and grandson-in-law, Dustin Bledsoe preceded her in death.
Surviving is her loving husband of 53 years, Odas Lee Dockery, Duffield, VA; sons, Otis Dockery, Jr., and wife, Debbie, Rye Cove, VA and Rick Dockery and wife, Joyce, Clinchport, VA; daughter, Melissa Duncan and husband, Bobby, Rye Cove, VA; grandchildren, Christopher Dockery and fiancee, Santana Rose, Tabitha Dockery and fiancé, Marcus Smith, Jennifer Dockery Bledsoe, Brandon Dockery and wife, Brittany, Samantha Dockery, Matthew A. Duncan, Logan Dockery, and Madison Dockery; great grandchildren, McKazie Dockery, Trey Osborne, Allie Osborne, Kacee Dockery, Hannah Dockery, Savanna Dockery, Samuel Rose, Zachery Dickenson, Chloe Bledsoe, and an expectant great grandson due in November, Christopher Elijah Dockery.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Melissa and Bobby Duncan. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Terry Rhoton and Rev. Ray Dockery officiating. Durham's Chapel Quartet will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Duncan Family Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Her grandsons, Christopher Dockery, Brandon Dockery, Logan Dockery, Matthew A. Duncan, Marcus Smith, and Brian Osborne will serve as pallbearers. Her first cousins will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
